The falcon, also known by the name of raptor bird or aquila in Latin, is considered in ancient cultures to be the bird of princes. As such, upon the death of a Roman Emperor, a golden falcon was released, believing to carry with it that ruler’s soul to the Gods. Astrologers believe that falcons are tied to the planet Jupiter, because of their symbolic association with ascension of the spirit, and freedom. Here the Falco Pendant is paired with a Roman Caracalla coin, on a chain link necklace.
